Serving the autism community with a new tennis program in Flagstaff

ACEing Autism Flagstaff wrapped up its first fall session recently after five weeks of assisting autistic children grow and develop through fitness and social connections, filling a national gap for an underserved community.

Since 2008, the Los Angeles-based program has been a preeminent leader in demonstrating how tennis and sports benefit children with autism by developing their social skills, fine-motor skills and engagement.

A survey conducted by UCLA Center for Autism Research and Treatments (UCLA CART) revealed that because of ACEing Autism, 90% of children significantly improved their tennis and motor skills, 78% improved their general behavior and mood, 92% improved their social skills, 82% improved their on-task engagement and 64% improved on repetitive behaviors.
